We need your System Information to create a license file that will allow you to use Analyze on your system. Analyze won't work on your system without a license file. We generate a license file based on the system information you provide, and we send the license file to you by e-mail. It is imperative that we receive the correct system information, so please take the time to closely follow the instructions for providing system information.
To obtain the HOSTNAME and SYSTEM ID required for us to generate your license file, please refer to the appropriate instructions for your system type:

Obtaining System Information for Windows PCs (Windows 7/Vista/XP)
If Analyze has been installed:
- Under the Windows 'Start' menu, go to All Programs > Mayo Clinic Analyze > BIRlic Tool.
- The System Info tab of the BIRlic Tool contains the HostName and System ID needed for your license file. Please take a screenshot* of the System Info tab and include it with your e-mail to validate@analyzedirect.com.
If Analyze has not been installed:
- Under the Windows 'Start' menu, go to All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
- In the Command Prompt window, type “ipconfig -all” and then hit <Enter>.
- The information displayed includes the Host Name and the Physical Address (system ID) needed for your license file. Please take a screenshot* of the information returned and include it with your e-mail to validate@analyzedirect.com.
*Screenshot (Windows): To take a screenshot of the active window, press <Alt + Print Screen>. The screenshot is saved to active memory and can be pasted into your e-mail or into a Word document that you attach to your e-mail.
Older version of Analyze or Windows: Please e-mail support@analyzedirect.com for instructions to obtain your system information.
Obtaining System Information for Macs (OS X 10.3+)
- Open the Terminal application (Applications/Utilities/Terminal).
- To get the HOSTNAME, type the command: uname -n
- To get the SYSTEM ID, type the command: ifconfig en0
- Please take a screenshot** of the information returned and include it with your e-mail to validate@analyzedirect.com.
**Screenshot (Mac): To take a screenshot of a window, first press <Command+Shift+4>. Once your cursor turns into a crosshair, press the Spacebar to change it into a camera and then click on the window you wish to capture. The screenshot will automatically be saved to your Desktop and can then be attached to your e-mail.
Obtaining System Information for Linux Systems
- Open a terminal shell.
- To get the HOSTNAME, type the command: uname -n
- To get the SYSTEM ID:
- - Type the command: /sbin/ifconfig eth0
- - The information in the HWaddr field is the System ID.
- Please include these two pieces of system information in your e-mail to validate@analyzedirect.com.
Obtaining System Information for UNIX Workstations
- Open a terminal shell.
- To get the HOSTNAME, type the command: uname -n
- To get the SYSTEM ID:
- - Type the command: hostid
- - The hexadecimal number returned is the System ID.
- Please include these two pieces of system information in your e-mail to validate@analyzedirect.com.
Please Note: If you are using an older version of Analyze and need to report system information for HP, IBM, DEC or SGI systems, please send an e-mail to support@analyzedirect.com for further instructions.
